A software development centre (SDC) owned by Motorola and based in Malaysia has been purchased by Satyam Computer Services Ltd.

Satyam revealed on Monday (November 10th) that the SDC is going to be bought up.

Consulting and IT services provider Satyam will take over the unit's assets in Cyberjaya, as well as all of Motorola's 128 employees.

The Xinhau news agency noted that the contract will be dealt with "directly" by Motorola and Satyam.

In a statement, Satyam's Virender Aggarwal said: "The strategic transaction between Satyam and Motorola has strengthened Satyam's value proposition in the telecommunications sector, which is increasingly becoming more diversified and value-based.

"The acquisition springboards us to expand our reach to wider addressable new geographies to propel greater growth."

Satyam did not reveal a figure for the deal, but it suggested that it will be completed before the end of the year.ADNFCR-1221-ID-18877173-ADNFCR
