The investment group Evolutec has acquired the UK-based semiconducting materials group Nanoco.

Following the deal, Nanoco - which manufacturers nanotechnological quantum dots - will become a public limited company with a market capitalisation of almost £39 million (AUD$86.7 million).

When finalising the acquisition agreement, both companies may have benefited from using one of Ansarada's secure virtual data rooms, which provide tracking and encryption of accounts and documents in an online environment.

Dr Michael Edelman, chief executive of Nanoco, commented: "This acquisition represents the next milestone in Nanoco's rapid development."

He added that the company had "grown by focusing its efforts on the development and mass production of high performance quantum dots".

The company was originally found eight years ago by the Manchester University academics - Dr Nigel Picket and Professor Paul O'Brien - in a bid to forward development of quantum dot technologies.ADNFCR-1221-ID-19050827-ADNFCR
