
China Medical Technologies has announced that it will be acquiring Molecular Diagnostics Technologies in order to purchase its HPV-DNA Biosensor Chip.

The deal will also mean the acquisition of Surface Plasmon Resonance based Analysis System (the "SPR System") for the detection of human papillomavirus (HPV).
Under the terms of the agreement, the company has said it will pay in instalments of USD$345 million (£594 million) and the final payment for the aforementioned acquisition will be made one year after the closing of the deal.
Mr Xiaodong Wu, chairman and chief executive of China Medical Technologies, said: "We expect this Acquisition to further strengthen our leading position in the high-end IVD market in China."
He said that the acquisition satisfies all their principles such as a high gross margin, and "advanced IVD technology".
China Medical Technologies is a China-based medical device company that develops, manufactures and markets advanced in-vitro diagnostic products.
