News provided by Ansarada, secure virtual data room providers
The British property group Land Securities has launched a rights issue in a bid to secure more than £755 million in capital.
Under the scheme, shares in the struggling company will be available at 270p - less than half their trading value of 568p.
If the company were to look for new investors, it could likely benefit from utilising a virtual data room from Ansarada, which would allow financial and legal advisors to swiftly and securely conduct due diligence.
Chief executive of Land Securities, Francis Salway, said: "We have a good track record of creating value for shareholders through the property cycle and have decided to seek further capital at this stage to ensure the company's balance sheet is appropriately structured."
He added that the move would help secure the business from the "downside risk" of more falls in the property market.
The real estate group Brixton made a similar announcement earlier in the week, stating that it was looking at ways in which it could shore up its cashflow.
