A British food business famous for its range of meats and pies has placed itself in voluntary liquidation.

The Wrexham Evening Leader reported that the Welsh firm JT Vernon's - which has been trading in the village of Holt since the 19th century - has gone to the wall.

A local insolvency practitioner has now been appointed to try to sell the business, which could potentially be done quickly and securely through one of Ansarada's virtual data rooms.

One member of staff at the shop told the Evening Leader: "Vernon's has gone into voluntary liquidation but we are still trading.

"The business is up for sale and the aim is to sell it as a going concern. Hopefully, someone will purchase it and save the 15 jobs we have here."

Recent statistics published by the British information services provider Experian found that the number of business insolvencies in the UK soared by 78 per cent last year.ADNFCR-1221-ID-19071793-ADNFCR
