Hugh Monaghan is a partner in the transactions team at specialist advisory and restructuring firm McGrathNicol, who also wears a business owner hat running a top-end wine bar in Sydney.
After an internal review of all the deals they had worked on over the last three or four years, Hugh’s team found that only 10% of businesses – whether on buy side or sell side - were ‘deal ready’ when due diligence commenced.
“Anything that allows businesses to prepare more in advance, do it efficiently, do it in a way that is actually just an add on to monthly processes…” said Hugh.
“Have them uploading management accounts to the Ansarada Pathway as it's being done; have that scorecard set up so you can immediately make an informed decision about how prepared you are. It's amazing how people respond to KPI's when you put them in front of them.
And for tracking progress; it's a good way to get people competing against each other if you have the sort of legal team, versus the finance team, versus the property guys all trying to get their sections completed the quickest."
